Why would you pick an AR-15??? Why would you pick an AK-47??? Just why do these bullets do such incredible damage and how do derive their power??? What happens to different targets when these type of rounds hit??? Thanks for the information and details… Jessi

I was thinking I would buy an ar 15 for Competition shooting or a ak 47. I was wondering what do you suggest is better. Also, who makes the best of each one?

Assuming you have an AK-47 with a 16in barrel and an AR-15 with a 16in barrel? Which is louder or are they the same? I get mixed answers why is that?
What about the 7.62X51 NATO?
And what are the usual powder loadings for the 5.56X45 and 7.62X39?
Also what do they sound like off in the distance? Can you hear them a mile away?

I’m thinking about buying one, I want a rifle that is reliable under extreme conditions and will go bang every time I pull the trigger, like the legendary AK-47. I know that its accuracy will not be like my AR-15. I have been seeing them for sale around me, and the one that really caught my attention was the AK-47 in bullpup configuration, it is much shorter, has an ergonomic polymer stock and grip, and has the peep sights of an AR-15.

Most holsters are normally designed to suggest protection to the handgun, sheild retention, and ready admittance. Holsters are usually made to be used for a single hand, allowing the object to be removed and/or replaced with the same hand. To be able to return an item to a holster one-handed, the holster must-be-made from stiff equipment that holds its shape, so that the holster won’t collapse when the object is cannot be able to give support since it is no longer inside.
Some other holsters may hid inside a pocket, to add stability and protection to the handgun, maintaining it more dependably secure and accessible than if it were in the in the pocket.
Categories by technique in wearing
Types of Admired holsters
“Outside the waistband” (OWB) or belt holsters are most commonly used by police and armed forces, and by citizens who take to open carry. Belt holsters and can be covered under a long, uninserted shirt. Like Fobus Holsters.
“Inside the waistband” (IWB) holsters, which clip or place in a belt and allow one to holster the weapon securely inside the pants offers the owner the option of shirt stucking over the firearm and holster.
“Shoulder holsters” made of twin straps connected in a manner similar to a backpack. Shoulder holsters are designed to pose the sidearm: 1. in a straight up position, with the barrel usually pointed to the ground; 2. in a upright position, with the barrel regularly pointed towards the top; 3. in a straight position, with the the barrel is pointed normally at the back of the wearer.
The “belly band” holster is a wide flexible belt with a built-in holster, often used inside an untucked garment, to facilitate access. For it to remain in place, a belly band must be tremendously tight; this is in general uncomfortable – it is similar to someone wearing a girdle.
“Pocket holsters” are used for enormously small items or weapons, like a back up gun.
“Small of Back” holsters keep the weapon directly over the midpoint of the back, allocating for even big handguns to be handled with small printing. While both comfortable and stylish, accidentally the wearer fall onto the weapon (such as in a close quarters fight) awful injury of the spinal column (including paralysis) may occur.
“Groin holsters” handgun should be place below the waistline around the 12:00 position. No body movement restrictions and quite a few clothing restrictions with this holster type.
“Thigh holsters” are a well know military and police-item that keeps the sidearm on the leg right where the hand generally dangles, making for a reasonably fast drawing. Today, this is with a drop leg PALS grid with a modular holster affixed. Police and military constituents and personnel wear these when a huge vest makes impractical carrying of belt.
“Ankle holsters” give great disguise and are used frequently by military officials who wish to carry a secondary weapon to back up the main firearm.
“Chest holsters” can be enclosed to MOLLE friendly vests and chest carriers. Like shoulder holsters, chest holsters are regularly not hard to draw from than belt holsters when the operator is seated inside a vehicle.
Other, specific types of holsters are created to be put in a briefcase, day planners, purses and filofaxes, or even articles of clothing.

I have tried to find reliable resources for John McCain gun related issues but have found some conflicting results. Is it possible he will support a ban on AR-15’s and AK-47’s and High cap mags?
He had said something to the effect he may consider supporting a ban on certain types.
Love the uninformed comment…"yes we all need one in the shopping malls and school yards"
FYI Assault weapons account for less than 3% of all gun related crimes

I have never fired an AR-15 or an AK-47 before but I do want to. But has anyone who has fired both weapons can tell me how loud is the 5.56X45 and 7.62X39?
Another thing to ask is how loud is the M16 with a 20in barrel compared to the AK-47?
And how loud is the M4 with a 14.5in barrel compared to the AK-47?
Which is louder or are they both about the same?
I was able to find out about this much over the internet.
I do know that the 5.56 is at 62,000 psi at max gas pressure and the 7.62X39 is at a lower 45,000 psi at max gas pressure.
The 7.62X39 does have 20% higher case capacity but the actual loadings for both is 26.2 grains of powder for a 126GR 7.62X39 and 26.1 grains of powder for a 62GR 5.56 NATO round. So the actual powder loadings for both is really pretty close.
So how loud is the AR-15/M16/M4 and AK-47/74?

i’ve been wanting to buy a semi-auto ak rifle and was thinking about getting the Romanian WASR-10. however, i hear that the quality of these rifles is not so great, so ill probably order one that is a little more expensive as long as its top quality. how does this one look?
http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct798.aspx
its made with the original milled receiver design. are there any real advantages of having the milled receiver over the stamped one?
don’t say for me to get an AR-15 just because they’re more accurate. i will eventually gey an AR later on but for now i want a reliable and low-maintanience rifle for plinking.

What is your favorite variant and in what caliber?
Tom L, nimrod? Is that something your dad used on your momma to create you.
Joe Willson, I like SKS’s and AR-15′s too. I don’t get in pissing matches over guns because I like them all.
I own an NHM-91 (Chinese version of the RPK), Hungarian AMD-65, Romanian SAR 1 and owned an MAK-90, all in 7.62x39mm of course. I also own a Romanian SAR-3 in .223 cal. I own two AR-15′s Bushmaster and DPMS but, I am just totally addicted to AK’s.

I know that there are several types of ar-15 rifles. Which one is the best value (best bang for the buck)? Also, what is the best type of ak-47 (also the best bang for the buck)?

Which of these 2 rifles makes a better home defense gun, the AR-15 or the AK-47? I am talking about defending your home in a doomsday situation, when Western civilization as we know it melts down and every man is for himself. Or in a situation where our country is invaded by foreign powers and we as citizens must fight along with our military against the invaders.

I have trying to decide if I want to buy a Polish Tantal in 5.45 or an AR-15. I know the tantal is cheaper, but I have owned an AK-47 (SAR) and hated it. Accuracy sucked, too loud, all around sucked! Anyway I would like to know from owners or people who have shot one are they better than the average AK (I know it is a differenet caliber) or should I spend the extra and just get the AR?

I’m a "anti big brother" type. I’d like to buy an AK47, or AR-15, but I live in good ole California, where not only are these guns illegal (unless I buy an off list receiver..), but I’d have to register them even if it is legal. Are there any states in the US where I can buy an assault rifle without registering it, or without being required to show ID? At a gun show maybe? Of course, I would leave the gun in that state, and not take it back to California with me.
BTW — not looking for a lecture here! I know the risks involved with gun ownership
I’m not going to go postal. I’m well respected in my community, but I just like to do things outside of the govt’s prying eyes when possible.

What caliber of bullets do the AK-47 and the AR-15 assault rifles shoot?
Also, are the bullets difficult to find?
Are the bullets expensive to buy?

I have been saving up my money to get an assault rifle for my 21st birthday. My buddy lives by a store up in Phoenix where they have a Romanian semi-auto AK-47 for 400 and a AR-15 for 850. I like the accuracy of American weapons, but I personally like the design of the AK better and its power. I live in Tucson, which has weather like Phoenix, and heard that AR-15′s require constant cleaning. Being that Arizona is a desert and of course dust is a problem will it be a problem to maintain the AR-15? Also do you think these are fair prices and which gun would you buy? I will be using the gun just for sport and showing off, not hunting.
Here’s a pic of what the AK I want to buy looks like

OK… there used to be an "assault weapons ban" in CT, which expired. So can I buy an ak-47 now? what’s the deal? everyone says no aks. Someone who SELLS guns please educate me properly… there’s too many different answers out there….
ALSO, besides ar-15 type, what other assault weapons and carbines are legal in CT? mp5?
why would i want one? well,
1. because it’s my right
2. fun factor at rifle range
3. investment purposes
4. just because i like assault rifles doesnt make me a criminal.
please NO LIBERAL ANSWERS
gun laws don’t work so go educate yourself

Because not all of them come in potent calibers I seen some AK-47′s that are chambered for the 223 Remington ammunition.
I Don’t think there is anything wrong with the AR-15 rifles but I like AK-47′s.
I also wanted to know how to remove the stock off of the Krinkov M92 rifle I don’t like that kind of stock it looks ugly. If you visit the atlanticfirearms website and go to the Ak-47 section you will see what I’M talking about.
I rather have an semi auto than an full auto I don’t think I need rapid gun fire.
Thanks for all your helpful answers I give every one thumbs up God bless.

And, which weapon would you use if given the choice between the AK-47, the AK-74, The AR-15 Bushmaster and the M-14 Rifle?
Thank you in advance for your answers!

I know some handguns like the Sig Sauers have a safety decocker on them. I can also decock my AR-15′s safely without an accidental discharge. Is it possible to decock an AK-47 rifle? And how do I do that?

I mean an AK47 with good overall accuracy, much like an m4. I am looking for all the perks of an AK (easy to clean, no jams, more power than m4) with good long range accuracy. Much like a mix between an AR-15/M4 and an AK47.
