Question by CURIOUS GEORGE: Is it safe to shoot an AK-47 without the machinery cover?
If I took off the machinery cover off my AK-47 rifle and I was to insert a loaded 30 round clip in the magazine well. And I was to pull back the charging handle, aim at the target, and then pull the trigger. Will it be a safe thing to do? Or will I get hurt?

Question by Tyler: A good attachment for a black ak 47 airsoft gun?
I am looking for a cool attachment for a black ak 47 air soft gun. But there’s a tiny problem the mounts in the front so it would be hard to see through a scope or red dot sight. The red dot sight may work but the scope is definitely out. Any one have any suggestions.

I am looking at the CCA, I heard that Tapco and UTI is junk. What do you think is the best for me to put on my Romy ak 47. I would want to change the handguard also

Answer by Justin CCA makes some good stuff and I have some of their products on one of my ARs, but I wouldn’t put their folding stock on my AK. I had a Tapco folder on my Wasr 10 several years ago…. It seemed great at first but after about 500 rds or so it just got looser in the fixed each time I took it out. I suspect CCA will be the same. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got some Tapco products that are great, but a folding stock on an AK isn’t gonna be one of them, Mainly, the heavy offset bolt recoiling back and forth during operation doesn’t do any plastic on plastic folding joint any favors regardless who manufactures it. I have an Arsenal AK I put a KVAR steel folding stock on and it works perfect. It’s all dinged and scratched up now, but after around 3000 rds through it it still locks up as tight as the day I put it on. As far as a hand guard goes, I would avoid one with a bunch of rails on it. The reason being is they make a rifle more heavy and it just doesn’t make sense to mount tons of accessories on an AK. It’s accurate enough as a battle rifle and an intermediate rifleman should have no problem hitting a man sized target at 200m. But rigging it up like an AR w/ lasers, bi pods, flashlights, scopes, etc. is just pissin’(pardon my French) away money in my opinion. It just wasn’t designed for or perform good as a sniper or house clearing rifle. I do think a red dot is definitely in order, but be careful not to go over board. You’ll see what I mean of you go ahead and put a bunch of stuff on it. I, personally, like the Galil styled forends from Tapco even though I don’t have one.

I know i can expect less accuracy farther out with the M4, but personally, I like the way to looks…….Any thoughts opinions on different makers, what company to stay away from, which to buy from etc etc. Half of the fun in buying a new gun is researching and learning something of what everyone else knows.
