I often hear many say that the AK-47 was a direct copy of the STG44, what truth is there to…?

Posted by Alex on 23rd November 2010

…this?
Really, what would a tank operator know about mechanisms needed for a gun especially the best assault rifle of all time. Do these two guns operate on the same basic concept and just simply a copy of a german design, or is the AK-47 truely a remarkable unique masterpiece by kalashnikov?

Vz.58 P

Posted by Alex on 2nd June 2010

The Vz. 58 is a 7.62mm beating rifle planned and manufactured in Czechoslovakia and customary into check in the late 1950s as the 7,62 mm samopal vzor 58 (“7.62mm sub machine gun model 1958″), replacing the vz. 52 self-loading rifle and the 7.62x25mm Tokarev vz. 24 and vz. 26 sub machine guns. The vz. 58 externally be similar to the Soviet AK-47 but is internally a completely different design based on a short-stroke gas piston.
History

Development of the weapon began in 1956; leading the plan was ruler engineer Ji?í ?ermák give to the Konstrukta Brno facility in the city of Brno. The sample, recognized as the “Košt?” (“broom”), was designed to assembly room the midway Soviet 7.62x39mm M43 cartridge, rather than the Czech 7.62x45mm vz. 52 round, used in both the earlier vz. 52 rifle and the vz. 52 light machine gun. The attack rifle go in examine in 1958 and over a time of 25years (until 1984), over 920,000 weapons had been produced, fielded by the prepared forces of the Czechoslovakia, Cuba and numerous other Asian and African state.

Vz58 Accessories

The weapon does not have a square rotating hammer but is striker-fired and the striker is a strengthen bar hollowed from one end rough throughout its total length to accommodate its own operating spring. At the open end of the striker, a plate is welded and there is a groove cut in each side of this to skip on the receiver show banister. This hammer-striker enters the unfilled bolt and drives a fully suspended firing pin forward with each shot.

The rifle uses a trigger device with a bar-type fire mode selector, which is also a manual protection against unintentional liberation. When the selector handle is sited in its rear spot (“1″—solo fire) the sear is halt and the left striker snare is swivel by the dis connector, which is depressed by the bolt hauler after each shot and is consequently disconnected from the striker catch. The onward surroundings of the selector lever (“30″—repeated fire) disables the dis connector, and the left striker hook meshes with the sear apparatus. The core (“safe”) scenery with the selector knob pointing vertically downwards, mechanically lowers the trigger bar and the dis connector so there is no connection between the trigger and the semi-routine sear which clutch the hammer. The rifle also has an internal well being, which prevents the weapon from discharging when out of battery. The accurate striker-hammer grapple disables the striker-hammer, and it can only be released by pulling the charging handle back and raising the weapon.

In the USA can someone buy a real, authentic AK 47? Not a knock off. An authentic Russian made AK-47?

Posted by Alex on 22nd March 2010

I dont know much about gun purchase laws and I’m not sure if the AK 47 is one of the weapons that people are not allowed to buy in the US. Up until now I have only had handguns and don’t know much about rifles.

I just heard on TV that Izhevsk Mechanical Works, the maker of the original Avtomat Kalashnikova 47, has filed for bankruptcy due to all of the illegal manufacturing of knock off AK-47s in the third world and in China.

I am in particular interested in US gun laws regarding the AKM (AK-47) Kalashnikov modernized assault rifle, caliber 7.62mm.

Anyone know?

Lancaster milled AK47. Worth the money?

Posted by Alex on 14th March 2010

I’m looking to get a new assault rifle and have been leaning toward the AK47 family due to their durability and reliability. In short, I’m looking for an "Armageddon Gun." I came across Lancaster and their rifles are beautiful! What I want to know is if they are worth a crap or are they just for show?

If I buy one of the Lancaster AKs it will most likely be a milled receiver.

Please let me know!

If the AK-47 is such a good gun, then why does't America use them? Or at least reverse engineer one?

Posted by Alex on 3rd March 2010

It may be unamerican, but its better then being "unintelligent".
What about reverse engineering the AK-47 instead and learn to create a better american made assault rifle?

What is the best AK-47 on the civilian market?

Posted by Alex on 25th February 2010

I’m looking to add an assault rifle to my collection of semi auto’s, revolvers, and shotguns.
I don’t want to spend more than 0, but I want a quality AK-47, or a clone of one.
I heard that the Yugoslavian and Romanian AK’s are good, but what do you think?
I want an Ak-47 that’s chambered for the 7.62 x 39 round.

I get upset when politicians start talking about gun control, and point to AK-47′s, does it you?

Posted by Alex on 16th February 2010

I have recently heard Obama talking about how he wants to take the AK-47′s away from criminals. This sounds good except I cannot remember a crime in a very long time that an AK-47 was used. Every time I see or hear about a crime, it’s with regular guns (handguns, shotguns and hunting rifles). Rarely do you hear about an assault rifle being used in a crime, except maybe an occasional high-profile bank robbery where assailants looked and dressed like SWAT with full-body armor and riot gear. This seems to me, even if the "AK-47′s" were illegal, these kinds of people would still have them, if not better guns and explosives.

Yet the assault rifles are always the subject of tools of the criminals? It would seem better to make the argument about the cheap guns AKA the "Saturday Night Specials" that people like Obama should be focusing on what criminals are actually using.

What weapon is planned to replace the AK-74 in Russian Military Service?

Posted by Alex on 10th February 2010

Is there a Assault Rifle planned to replace the AK-74 in Russia?

I heard that the AN-94 was designed to, but it is too complicated to make for widescale use and is restricted for Special Forces use. I think it would probably be the Ak-107/104, but Im not sure.

Can someone help?

Are there any states in the US where I can buy a gun legally without registering it?

Posted by Alex on 28th January 2010

I’m a "anti big brother" type. I’d like to buy an AK47, or AR-15, but I live in good ole California, where not only are these guns illegal (unless I buy an off list receiver..), but I’d have to register them even if it is legal. Are there any states in the US where I can buy an assault rifle without registering it, or without being required to show ID? At a gun show maybe? Of course, I would leave the gun in that state, and not take it back to California with me.

BTW — not looking for a lecture here! I know the risks involved with gun ownership :) I’m not going to go postal. I’m well respected in my community, but I just like to do things outside of the govt’s prying eyes when possible.

Which gun should I buy (AK-47 or AR-15)?

Posted by Alex on 6th January 2010

I have been saving up my money to get an assault rifle for my 21st birthday. My buddy lives by a store up in Phoenix where they have a Romanian semi-auto AK-47 for 400 and a AR-15 for 850. I like the accuracy of American weapons, but I personally like the design of the AK better and its power. I live in Tucson, which has weather like Phoenix, and heard that AR-15′s require constant cleaning. Being that Arizona is a desert and of course dust is a problem will it be a problem to maintain the AR-15? Also do you think these are fair prices and which gun would you buy? I will be using the gun just for sport and showing off, not hunting.

Here’s a pic of what the AK I want to buy looks like

Guns don’t kill people, people do.

If you had to choose between an AK-47, M4, or M16 assault rifle in a combat situation, which would you choose?

Posted by Alex on 5th January 2010

If you had to choose between an AK-47, M4, or M16 assault rifle in a combat situation, when your enemy was anywhere between 20 and 150 yards away from you, which would you choose? Please enumerate your reasons, and please let your explanation contain more than the phrase that “such and such rifle sucks or is awesome”. Thank you.
